We will, of course, continue to place cats, dogs, and rabbits with wonderful foster families everywhere, but that’s not all. We will also be able to do more for more individuals, whether by providing temporary or permanent shelter, or by being a source of societal change for them.
Location

We will, of course, continue to entrust cats, dogs, and rabbits to wonderful foster families everywhere, but that’s not all. We will also be able to do more for more individuals, whether by providing temporary or permanent shelter, or by being a source of societal change for them.
Philosophy
We envision this sanctuary as a haven of peace, not only for the rescued animals but also for the humans who visit or stay there. L’Abri des Sourires will also be a space for conferences, sharing, roundtable discussions, a library dedicated to animal ethics, an exhibition space, and a place for literary and artistic creation. It will also be a place of connection, rejuvenation, full of life and serenity at the same time. Together, we want to change their world and make the one we live in a better place for every individual.
Configuration
A large barn, once renovated with proper insulation and suitable arrangements, will house the rescued individuals, who will also have unlimited access to the meadows.
A large, already functional building will provide accommodation for volunteers during the renovation of other buildings, the construction of fences, and the setup of shelters. Later on, it will serve to host passing volunteers and occasional visitors over the years, as well as all the events held there. It will thus become a space for transformation, a place to change our perspective on the sentient beings around us.
Real estate purchase
The sales agreement is already signed; all that’s left is securing the funding to complete this purchase and officially become a sanctuary. The largest expense lies in the purchase of the property itself and the associated costs, representing 79% of the goal for this campaign, with the remainder mainly covering the necessary renovation work. In fact, less than 1% of the funds raised will go toward the training costs planned to ensure that all our volunteers are ready to welcome individuals of all species in the near future.
In order to finalize the initial purchase, the first portion of the funds, amounting to 280,000 euros, must be raised by January 15, 2025. Ideally, the entire campaign would be completed by this date so that renovation work can begin immediately, but this first milestone is the one that is essential at the moment.
